  Maximus the Confessor — Ambigua to Thomas, fascicle II

  Continuation of the bilingual reading edition begun in 2025, with the introduction to the second epistle and the first six aporiai. Translated by Dr Bălescu, with notes by Dr Berghuis. Members may consult the volume from today through their library accounts. Notes on the manuscript apparatus, which differs in significant respects from the apparatus of fascicle I, are appended to the introduction.

  Jacob of Serugh — Homily on the Veil of Moses, complete

  The first English translation of the complete homily from Bedjan's edition (vol. III, 283–305), with the Syriac text en regard. Preface and notes by Hieromonk Photios. The homily — almost six hundred lines in Bedjan — is one of Jacob's most sustained engagements with the Pauline reading of the Sinai narrative in 2 Corinthians 3, and we have given it the editorial attention we believe it deserves. Open sample.

  Symeon the New Theologian — Hymns of Divine Love, hymns 17–24

  Continuation of the working translation of the Hymni divini amoris. The notes engage particularly with the relation between the imagery of light in Symeon and that of Pseudo-Macarius — a question on which we have changed our position since the publication of hymns 1–16, and have appended an editorial note explaining the revision.

  Spring editorial bulletin

  The bulletin for members records the editorial board's spring meeting (held this year in Leiden, in the seminar room of the Faculty of Humanities at the kind invitation of Prof. Eerlandse). The principal decision concerns the long-postponed Athanasian Letters to Serapion, which we have at last agreed to release without further delay, even though the editorial introduction is shorter than we would prefer.

  Athanasius — Letters to Serapion on the Holy Spirit

  The full text of all four Letters, with introduction and notes. The translation is based on the Greek text of the Migne edition, collated with the older critical work of Lebon and with the textual notes of Shapland's 1951 translation, from which we have learned a great deal even where we have departed from his readings.

  Apophthegmata Patrum — Alphabetical Collection, A–K

  The first instalment of our edition of the Alphabetical Collection: entries from Abba Antony through Abba Cassian (the boundary at K is one of convenience and corresponds to no natural division). The translation is fresh; the apparatus is principally lexical and intertextual. Open sample available to all readers. We are grateful to Dr Pavlidou for reading the proofs of this volume.

  Manuscript catalogue update: Athos, Iviron 392

  We have at last received microfilm of Iviron 392, a fourteenth-century manuscript containing a substantial portion of the Hesychast florilegium tradition. Dr Bălescu reports that the codicology is straightforward but the apparatus is unexpectedly rich. A short codicological note will appear in the next members' bulletin.

  John Climacus — The Ladder of Divine Ascent, Step 1

  The opening step of the Ladder, with introduction by Hieromonk Photios on the work's place in the Sinaitic monastic tradition, and translation by Dr Voskuijl. Step 1 is published as an open sample; steps 2–10 will follow in the members' library, the editors hope, before the end of the year.

  Annual report, 2025

  The annual report has been circulated to members. In brief: four volumes completed during 2025, fifteen in active editorial preparation, the membership stable at approximately 380 individual and 24 institutional members, the Stichting's accounts marginally in surplus, and the editorial board unchanged. The full report contains the customary section of editorial reflections.

  Gregory of Nyssa — On the Soul and the Resurrection

  The full reading edition of the dialogue, with Dr Voskuijl's substantial introduction (forty-three pages, in the end) on Macrina's place in the dialogue and on the relation of the work to Gregory's De anima. We have published this as an open sample in part to mark the conclusion of a multi-year editorial project, and in part because Dr Voskuijl wished it to be available to her students.

  Autumn editorial bulletin

  The bulletin reports on the editorial board's autumn meeting and on the year's correspondence with consulting reviewers. We note with sorrow the death of Dr Karl-Heinz Vlierhoes, who had read proofs of several of the Greek volumes during his retirement and whom we will much miss.

  Cyril of Jerusalem — Mystagogical Catecheses

  The five Mystagogical Catecheses, with parallel Greek text, translation, and notes by Dr Voskuijl. The introduction discusses at some length the now-perennial question of attribution — to Cyril or to his successor John — and offers our editorial position, which is mildly in favour of Cyril. Open sample.

  John Chrysostom — On the Priesthood, Book III

  The third book of the dialogue, in a fresh translation by Dr Janssen. Open sample. Books I, II, IV, V, and VI are in preparation and will be added to the members' library as they are completed. Dr Janssen has decided, after much hesitation, to retain the dialogue framing in the translation rather than to dispense with it as some recent translators have done.

  Ephrem the Syrian — Hymns on the Nativity, Hymn 1

  The first of the Nativity hymns, in a fresh translation by Hieromonk Photios with parallel Syriac text. Open sample. The remaining twenty-seven hymns are in preparation; the cycle will be issued in three further fascicles over the coming two years.

  Basil of Caesarea — Hexaemeron, Homily I

  The opening homily of the Hexaemeron, in a new translation by Dr Stamatiou. Open sample. Homilies II through IX are in preparation and will appear in the members' library at approximately three-month intervals through 2026.

  Athanasius — On the Incarnation of the Word

  The first volume of our Athanasian programme: a fresh translation of the De incarnatione, with the introduction we had hoped to write since the Project's beginning. We have departed in a number of places from the more familiar translations, and the rationale for each departure is recorded in the notes. Open sample, available to all visitors.

  Summer editorial bulletin

  The summer bulletin records work in progress as the editorial board pauses for the academic vacation. Dr Bălescu will spend three weeks at the Hilandar Research Library in Columbus, Ohio; Hieromonk Photios will be at the Mardin Artuklu manuscript collections; the remainder of the board will be largely silent until early September.

  Editorial decision: scope of the Slavonic programme

  After considerable internal discussion, the editorial board has confirmed that the Slavonic programme will remain focused on the textual history of Slavonic translations of Greek sources, rather than expanding to include independent Slavonic compositions. This is a deliberate scope decision and reflects both the present expertise of the board and the existing scholarly literature on independent Slavonic compositions.

  Updated bibliography of Greek manuscripts consulted

  Dr Stamatiou has updated the working bibliography of Greek manuscripts consulted by the Project. The bibliography now records 217 manuscripts, of which 134 have been consulted in person or in microfilm and 83 through digital surrogates. The bibliography is available to members through the library.
